If you are new to self-publishing, this Quick Start Guide explains the basics of how Walch Printing works with authors. If you have additional questions after reading this please go to the FAQ section.
​Step 1: By gathering the information asked in the questions below, you will have much of the information Walch Printing will need to provide you with pricing and get your book into production. These are important details that we will need from you.
• Are your book files formatted in a final "print ready" pdf?  If not, do you need a designer?

​• What quantity would you like to have produced?

• What are the dimensions (Width x Height) of your book
​when closed?

• How many pages are in your book?

• What paper stock would you like to use for the cover and the text pages? We can suggest options for you if you are unsure.

• How do you want your book bound? Perfect bound, saddle-stitched or something else?
​• When would you like to have the final books delivered? What is your deadline?

• Where will we be shipping the final books? The full shipping address, including a contact name, phone number and email address if available would be ideal to have.

• Will you require collateral materials, such as posters and brochures to help promote your book at sales events or
​other venues?

• What payment method will you be using? We accept credit card, check or you may apply for terms with a credit application.
​Step 2: Once we receive the PDF file of your book, our prepress technician will look it over to make sure everything is in order, including checking for embedded fonts and to see if 1/8” crop marks are included if there are any elements that bleed (extend beyond the trim edge of the page).
​Step 3: The Production Team will generate a hard-copy press proof of your book within five (5) business days from receipt of the final files. We can also send you a PDF proof if you do not need to see a hard copy proof. Please let us know if you would like to have us ship the hard-copy proof to you or if you will pick it up.
​Step 4: You will receive and review the proof. Please look it over carefully and let us know if you need to make any changes or want to send us new files. Once you advise us that the final proof is approved, we can print your complete book order within seven (7) to ten (10) business days. We will not print any books until we hear back from you with your final approval.
​Step 5: Once your order is completed, we will contact you to let you know that it is ready for pick up or we will send you the tracking information for the shipment being sent to the address you provided to us.
